This report presents performance requirements and test methods for nontrunked FM personal transceivers with rechargeable batteries and personal/mobile transceivers using a charger/mobile unit, with or without an rf power amplifier, and which either do not have special subsystems such as selective signaling or voice privacy, or in which such subsystems are bypassed or disabled during testing for compliance with this standard.
Abstract
Minimum requirements are specified for user information to be provided by the manufacturer and distributor, performance at environmental extremes, receiver performance, transmitter performance, dead battery effects, and insertion/withdrawal life. Minimum requirements for performance at environmental extremes pertain to vibration stability and shock stability, and requirements for receiver performance address SINAD sensitivity and audio characteristics. Transmitter performance requirements focus on the characteristics of radio frequency, audio modulation, and electromagnetic compatibility. Methods are described for the transceiver environmental tests and tests of the receiver, transmitter, dead battery effects, and insertion/withdrawal life. Standard test conditions and test equipment are described as well. The standard classifies transceivers by their operating frequencies. Definitions, figures, 3 references, and 13-item bibliography.
