Abstract
THE JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION ACT OF 1974 PROVIDED FOR FEDERAL COORDINATION OF POLICY DEALING WITH THE PROBLEMS AND CAUSES OF DELINQUENCY. THE SUBCOMMITTEE ON EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES, AS PART OF ITS OVERSIGHT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION ACT OF 1974, CONDUCTED HEARINGS ON THE EXTENT OF SCHOOL VIOLENCE IN ORDER TO DETERMINE POSSIBLE POLICY ALTERNATIVES FOR THE SCHOOLS. THIS HEARING PRESENTS TESTIMONY BY DR. BERNARD WATSON, CHAIRMAN OF THE DEPARTMENT OF URBAN EDUCATION AT TEMPLE UNIVERSITY. ALSO INCLUDED IS THE TEXT OF A REPORT BY DR.
