FINAL EVALUATION FINDS THAT NEARLY ALL RESIDENTS WERE HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS OF A COMMUNITY CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAM IN PHILADELPHIA.
Abstract
MORE THAN 97 PERCENT OF THOSE ASKED RESPONDED FAVORABLY TO THE PROGRAM, STATING THAT IT HAD CUT GANG ACTIVITY, GIVEN YOUTH SOMETHING TO DO, MADE THE STREETS SAFER, AND ELICITED A FASTER RESPONSE FROM THE POLICE. THE EVALUATION INVOLVED RESPONDENTS WHO WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE OPERATION OF THE PROGRAM AND SOME WHO WERE NOT. RESPONDENTS GENERALLY THOUGHT OF THE PROGRAM AS A YOUTH ORIENTED SERVICE OFFERING SPORTS ACTIVITIES, RATHER THAN A CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAM....BS
