GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR BUILDING A WORKABLE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM FOR SOLVING THE CRIME PROBLEM.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR STATES THAT THE KEY TO MAKING THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM EFFECTIVE IS TO CONVINCE EVERYONE THAT JUSTICE WILL BE CONSISTENT. HE RECOMMENDS LONGER COURT SESSIONS TO REDUCE COURT DELAYS, EFFECTIVE REHABILITATION PROGRAMS THAT TEACH INMATES USEFUL TRADES AND PAY THEM REASONABLE WAGES FOR THEIR WORK, GREATER CONCENTRATION OF POLICE EFFORT ON VIOLENT ACTS IN WHICH PEOPLE ARE LIKELY TO BE KILLED OR INJURED, RESTRICTION OF THE USE OF FIREARMS TO THOSE WHO REALLY NEED THEM, AND A REEXAMINATION OF LAWS GOVERNING VICTIMLESS CRIMES.
