An organizational study of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center found the center to be highly cost effective.
Abstract
The historical-descriptive research was based on the organizational perspective posited by Deal and Rosaler (1975). Compared with Deal and Rosaler's conditions, the center's subsystems rank as follows: goals, simplistic; formal structure, complex; technology, simplistic; informal norms and processes, simplistic; and environment, simplistic. The study recommends that Deal and Rosaler's theory of organizational development be validated in several educational systems and at different levels. It suggests that further research be conducted to combat the rising cost of postsecondary education and that selected Peace Officer and Standards and Training programs be evaluated to determine the efficacy of regionally consolidated training. Appendixes include center organizations and courses along with over 100 references. Organizational charts are provided.
