The first in a series of luncheon seminars for criminal justice administrators and practitioners, this introductory session, chaired by Louis Mayo, presents an overall survey of the current and endemic problems in criminal justice programs, policies, and agencies.
Abstract
At each seminar, an eminent speaker is to discuss his or her experiences and concerns pertaining to the criminal justice system. The seminars will address mythologies in criminal justice that hamper effective use of resources and innovative ideas and that often result in financial mismanagement and waste. Mr. Mayo describes in metaphorical terms some of the myths that are used to obscure ineptitude in criminal justice research. For the individual lectures in the series, see NCJ 79431-48.
