The prevalence of allegations of oral sex in cases of sexual assault reported to the London Metropolitan Police Forensic Science Laboratory during 1988 and 1989 was verified through an analysis of submissions of offenses with both male and female victims. The cases were tabulated according to sex and age of the victim and offender's ethnic group.
Abstract
The sample studied here included 104 cases with male victims and 1,403 cases with female victims. The survey findings showed that fellatio was performed in 34 percent of the all-male offenses; nearly two-thirds of the acts were performed by the offender and the remainder by the victim. Oral-genital acts were performed in 22 percent of the sexual assaults committed against females. Of these, 78 percent were fellatio and 22 percent were cunnilingus. Cunnilingus was performed more often on younger female victims. Most offenders were white; the few Afro-Caribbeans in the sample rarely performed oral sex on their victims. 2 figures and 9 references
