The total number of Operation Bootstrap courses that provide training for law enforcement personnel was 603 in 1990. Bootstrap, operated by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), is the only national program that establishes so positive an interface between law enforcement and private sector companies.
The project is working with Boeing Corporation to install an electronic bulletin board for registration purposes. The economic situation is affecting both partners in Operation Bootstrap; some police agencies lack funds for travel and training, while corporations are also cutting back on the volume of courses they offer. To reach a larger audience, Bootstrap will begin advertising its course in the IACP and other professional publications
