The fiscal year 1999 annual report of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) recognizes the activities and accomplishments of the department and specific crime prevention initiatives implemented throughout the State.
Abstract
The annual report notes the DRC has instituted a Community Justice Cabinet through which councils and representatives in each prison and parole region continue to incorporate community justice activities into their daily operations. In addition, the DRC promotes justice for both victims and offenders and encourages victim-offender dialogue. The DRC believes it has successfully managed the offender population through a balance of prison construction, the support of community sanctions for nonviolent offenders, and the coordination of sound leadership practices. The Back to Basics strategy of the DRC invites all staff to evaluate the tools and techniques being used by the department and to suggest ways of operating more efficiently. Detailed information and data are presented on the mission and organization of the DRC, DRC operations, and DRC employees and correctional facilities. Tables, figures, and photographs
