This is a summary of 1998 activities of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (DRC).
Abstract
The report includes: (1) Ohio Leadership (Director’s letter); (2) The Organization (table of organization, institutional map, employee recognition); (3) Central Operations (the department, administration, employee relations, parole and community services, Office of Prisons); (4) Correctional Institution Profiles (Ohio prisons); (5) Statistical Overview (commitments, population); and (6) Directory (correctional institutions, recruitment and training, prison industries, adult parole authority offices, Internet address). During 1998 the DRC continued its strong support of community based alternatives to incarceration; began allowing prospective employers to conduct video job interviews with inmates ready for release to the community; and worked toward its goal of becoming the first state system to be entirely accredited by the American Correctional Association.
