Abstract
Products are listed alphabetically by subject. For each publication, the title, author, number of pages, identification number for ordering, availability information, and a brief description are provided. Following a message from the NIJ Director, the catalog lists and describes NIJ's publication and videotape series formats. The subject categories under which publications are catalogued are community policing, computers, corrections, courts, crime prevention, criminal justice and AIDS, criminology and research, drug testing, drugs and crime, law enforcement, science and technology, victims, and violence. The 14 solicitations issued by NIJ in 1996 are also listed, including the number of pages, and whether they are free and available electronically. The 12 solicitations issued through June 1997 are listed with the same type of information. Profiled as well is the National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS), which is one of the world's most extensive networks of criminal and juvenile justice information. It provides a range of services and outreach activities to respond to the criminal and juvenile justice information needs of professionals, practitioners, administrators, policymakers, and the general public. The information services provided by NCJRS are briefly described. Information and forms for ordering from the catalog are included.
