DATA ON THE WORKLOAD (INTAKE, INVESTIGATION, AND SUPERVISION) OF NEW YORK COUNTY PROBATION DEPARTMENTS FOR CALENDAR YEAR 1978 ARE PRESENTED.
Abstract
BASED ON THE MONTHLY REPORTS OF WORKLOAD IN PROBATION DEPARTMENTS, THE MULTI-PURPOSE REPORT FURNISHES INFORMATION FOR (1) THE ANNUAL STATE CRIME CONTROL PLAN DEVELOPED BY THE DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES, (2) THE STATE LEGISLATURE IN CONSIDERING PROBATION-RELATED LEGISLATION, (3) THE DIVISION OF PROBATION IN PLANNING NEW PROGRAMS AND PREPARING REPORTS, (4) THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IN ADDRESSING PROBATION-RELATED ISSUES, AND (5) LOCAL PROBATION DEPARTMENTS IN PREPARING PROGRAM PLANS AND STAFFING REQUESTS. THE WORKLOAD DATA ARE DIVIDED INTO FAMILY WORKLOAD (INTAKE, INVESTIGATION, AND SUPERVISION RELATED TO JUVENILE DELINQUENCY) AND CRIMINAL WORKLOAD (THE SAME SERVICES RENDERED SUBSEQUENT TO CRIMINAL OFFENSES). STATISTICAL FACT SHEETS COMPARE INTAKE, INVESTIGATIONS, AND SUPERVISION OF NEW YORK CITY AND OF UPSTATE NEW YORK. A FACT SUMMARY SECTION FURNISHES FIGURES ON INTAKE, INVESTIGATIONS, AND PROBATION SUPERVISION FOR THE YEARS 1959 TO 1978. THE FINAL SECTION PRESENTS THE FAMILY AND CRIMINAL WORKLOADS FOR THE ENTIRE STATE. CHARTS, TABLES, AND A MAP OF NEW YORK STATE ARE INCLUDED.
