The Tres Haute Velocite -- very high velocity -- bullet seems to provide the ammunition best suited to the legitimate requirements of police officers.
Abstract
These bullets have two special features. First, the highest possible velocity is obtained by using an internal design allowing a considerable increase in the volume of the powder charge. Second, the external design ensures maximum braking on impact. This braking is achieved by using a tip with a negative, concave parabolic shape, using the specific feature of the parabola: that any rays emitted from the focus of a parabolic reflector will be reflected in a parallel beam. In tests, this bullet performed satisfactorily in terms of power of penetration, impact, accuracy, energy loss, and recoil. Furthermore, it conforms to the Hague Convention. This type of ammunition represents a considerable improvement on anything else developed to date. Photographs, footnotes, and drawings are provided.
