The report discusses the State Commission of Investigation's legislative and law enforcement liaison activities in organized crime prevention, specifically regarding organized crime infiltration of dental care plans and questionable truck unloading practices in New Jersey.
Abstract
The Commission has continued its surveillance and questioning of leading mob figures. It has suggested reforms in the handling of public insurance transactions by county and municipal governments and contacts between prepaid health care plan contractors and certain labor union leaders. It found no widespread dumping practices among the State's independent truckers. The Commission has also established a close relationship with the attorney general and county prosecutors and is cooperating with other States in law enforcement activities. Its major investigations (of the garbage industry, building services industry, and county government abuses) since 1969 are summarized. No data tables are included.
