New Hampshire continues to be relatively less crime prone than 33 other States, and less so than any of the New England States except Vermont.
Abstract
Crime in New Hampshire will probably continue to rise, based on reliable long-range indicators. There is no discernible pattern in New Hampshire indicating that a greater propensity toward per capita crime is attributable to population size or density. Larceny accounts for more than half of the serious crimes in the State. The peak arrest age is at 17. Burglary accounts for 29 percent of all property crimes, while larceny accounts for 63 percent of all such crimes. Juveniles accounted for 62 percent of all arrests for motor vehicle theft. Numerous tables and figures present uniform crime report data. (Author summary modified)
