DESCRIPTION OF NEW DIMENSIONS IN CRIME (EITHER EXTREME FORMS OF CONVENTIONAL CRIME OR ALARMINGLY HIGH INCIDENCES) THAT RESULT FROM CHANGES IN THE LAW, SOCIAL CHANGE, AND CHANGES IN VALUES.
Abstract
THESE TYPES OF CRIME INCLUDE AIRPLANE HIJACKINGS, MASS MURDERS, KIDNAPPINGS, AND ORGANIZED ECONOMIC CRIMES. THE GENERAL EFFECTS OF THESE NEW DIMENSIONS ARE DISCUSSED WITH REGARD TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS - LEGISLATORS, CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATORS, THE POLICE, THE PRISONS, AND THE COURTS. THE AUTHOR STATES THAT TO OVERCOME THIS NEW CRIME WAVE, WE, AS A SOCIETY, MUST STOP TOLERATING IT AND CLOSE LEGAL LOOPHOLES THAT PERMIT IT.
