On May 28, 1992, the Nebraska Supreme Court adopted a State code of judicial conduct, which became effective on September 1, 1992.
Abstract
This code, intended to establish standards for the ethical conduct of Nebraskan judges, consists of broad statements called canons, specific rules outlined under each canon, a terminology section, an application section, and commentary that provides guidance to the canons and sections through explanation and example. The canons state specifically that a judge shall uphold the integrity and independence of the judiciary, shall avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety in all activities, shall perform the duties of the judicial office impartially and diligently, shall conduct all extra-judicial activities in a manner which minimizes the risk of conflict with judicial obligations, and shall refrain from inappropriate political activity. 3 appendixes
