This compendium presents copies of news articles, proclamations, and comments from local police and civilian coordinators about the 1990 National Night Out, a crime prevention program that involved citizens, police, local officials, businesses, criminal justice agencies, and civic and community groups in 8,140 communities in all 50 States, United States territories, Canadian cities, and United States military installations around the world.
Abstract
The national project coordinator reported that nearly every participating community experienced three significant results. These were contacts among neighbors, close working relationships among law enforcement agencies and community groups, and extensive media coverage. An estimated 21.8 million people took part in the 1990 National Night Out, and the combination of local and national print and broadcast media resulted in more than 370 million media impressions.
