This document presents the annual self-report of the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association (CASA) concerning program conditions, participation, and costs for the year 2000.
Abstract
Data for the report was drawn from 402 local programs which responded to a self-report survey. In general, this represented a 45 percent response rate. Based upon the data, the authors concluded that there was a 10.7 percent median increase in the number of children served; there was an 11.1 percent increase in volunteers; volunteer hours increased 16.2 percent over the prior year; and the total number of CASA programs increased 100 percent from 1996. The report presents statistical data comparing programs in rural, mixed, and suburban and urban areas. Additionally, data concerning program revenues and costs are presented. For the purposes of this report, median costs per child and volunteer represent the computed value for each individual local program respondent and then finding the median of those values for the total respondent population. 10 tables, 10 figures, appendix
