These 26 papers written by and for lesbians explore the dynamics of lesbian battering by their intimate partners and strategies for individual and community recognition and treatment of the problem.
Abstract
Stories of battered lesbians from around the Nation recount their lives as battered women and as survivors of emotional and physical abuse. Additional papers focus on community organizing activities that support the empowerment of reasons that violence in lesbian relationships has been invisible and unacknowledged. The reasons that victims are reluctant to acknowledge and report the violence they have experienced and the lack of a uniform set of factors that characterize abusers are also discussed.
