This video uses first-person accounts by prostitutes regarding the importance of and techniques of using condoms with clients to help prevent the transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
Abstract
The video's intent is to instruct prostitutes in the importance of using condoms as a strict practice with clients. A prostitute who has HIV emphasizes that it only takes one careless sexual transaction to transmit HIV. Some of the prostitutes have a firm rule that they will not have sex with clients who refuse to use a condom. Other prostitutes tout techniques of placing a condom on a client's penis so that he is unaware of its presence. These techniques are demonstrated by the prostitutes with penis- shaped objects. At a bus stop, two prostitutes compare the condoms they use. One brings her collection out of a paper bag and explains its uses, and the other describes her favorites and how she uses them. All of the prostitutes have in common a firm, self-protective commitment to avoid being infected with HIV.
