AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL ACCOUNT OF THE FUGITIVE LIFE OF 'THE FLORIDA FOX', JOHN WILLIAM CLOUSER, FROM 1964-1975, DURING WHICH TIME HE WAS ON THE FBI'S MOST WANTED LIST FOR LONGER THAN ANY MAN IN HISTORY - NINE YEARS.
Abstract
MR. CLOUSER, WITH HIS CO-AUTHOR, DESCRIBES HIS CORRUPTION AS AN ORLANDO, FLA. POLICE DETECTIVE AND HIS SUBSEQUENT ENTANGLEMENT WITH UNDERWORLD FIGURES WHICH LEAD TO 30-YEAR SENTENCE FOR ARMED ROBBERY. THE EXPERIENCES RECOUNTED BY THE AUTHOR INCLUDE HIS METHODS OF DISGUISE, HOW HE GOT NEW, DOCUMENTED IDENTITIES, HIS TECHNIQUES FOR EVASION OF THE POLICE AND FOR AVOIDING SUSPICION, AND HOW HE GOT EMPLOYMENT DURING THOSE 10 YEARS. HE EXPLAINS HOW HIS EXPERIENCES INFLUENCED HIM IN DEVELOPING INTO A NON-VIOLENT, OPEN-MINDED, RESPECTED WORKER AND CITIZEN, AND FINALLY LEAD HIM TO SURRENDER HIMSELF IN AUGUST 1974.
