Abstract
Resumptive tables give yearly comparisons since 1972 for crime totals, nonindictable offenses, persons taken into custody, and strength of the State and municipal police. Tables reporting crimes known to the police for the month of January 1981 list offenses by Province, by groups of municipalities, by the nature of the offense, and according to the reporting police branch (i.e., State and municipal police and the Royal Marechaussee). Traffic offenses are also reported. The annual review data for 1980 indicate strength of the police, and number of investigated cases and nonindictable offenses by Province and by groups of municipalities. Crimes are tabulated by nature of the offense and by reporting police branch. The report includes data on shoplifting for 1980; on bankruptcies for April and the first quarter of 1981, as well as from 1976 to April 1981; and on assistance by fire brigades in the first three quarters of 1980. The report consists entirely of tabulated material.
