This book presents a "model" law enforcement contract from the legal perspective of a lawyer for management in public sector law enforcement matters.
Abstract
The book, which contains individualized comments at the beginning of each article, differs from Aitchison's "model" contract from a law enforcement labor organization perspective by suggesting that in some circumstances, proposed management language rather than simply excerpts from existing contracts, should be used in contract writing. This approach was taken to demonstrate what management might prefer rather than what might become the actual language of the final contract. Issues addressed in the contract's 85 articles include association and employer security, management rights, productivity, work rules, discipline, seniority, hours of work, wages, insurance and other benefits, and grievance procedure.
