Statistics are given on the activities of Missouri's public defender and appointed counsel program from July 1, 1979, through June 30, 1980.
Abstract
In 1979-80, expenditures for operating the 18 public defender offices totaled $2,280,346.67, of which $1,993,891.05 (87 percent) was for personal services and $286,455.62 (13 percent) was for operating expenses and equipment. Tabular data report on public defender and appointed counsel expenditures and recovered fees, a caseloads and costs 5-year summary, disposed cases through fiscal year 1980-81, disposition activity, program cost per case, and public defender caseloads assigned and disposed. Also included are operational statistics for public defender offices, comparisons of public defender offices, and appointed counsel caseload costs summary and caseload costs by type of case. Besides tables, the report includes figures and maps. Appendixes include summary data for individual public defender offices, a glossary of terms, and sample forms.
