Abstract
THE 1974 MISSOURI CONFERENCE ON JUVENILE JUSTICE INVOLVED THE PARTICIPATION OF OVER TWELVE HUNDRED PERSONS FROM ALL PARTS OF THE STATE. CO-SPONSORS OF THE CONFERENCE INCLUDED OVER 60 ORGANIZATIONS, 25 JUDGES, AND 22 LEADING CITIZENS. AREAS COVERED IN THE PANEL DISCUSSIONS WERE: POLICE SERVICES; PREVENTION OF DELINQUENCY; MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES; JUVENILE COURT SERVICES; THE SCHOOL'S ROLE; JUVENILE JUSTICE MANPOWER; VOLUNTEER SERVICES; PRIVATE AGENCIES; AND THE DIVISION OF YOUTH SERVICES. AMONG THE TOPICS PRESENTED IN CONFERENCE SPEECHES WERE SOME FINDINGS OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE MANPOWER STUDY AND STIMULATION OF COMMUNITY INTEREST. RECOMMENDATIONS WERE MADE TO ESTABLISH JUVENILE JUSTICE STANDARDS, IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, AND EXPAND STAFF TRAINING, PREVENTION EFFORTS, COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS.
