This report presents figures and descriptions of apprehensions of juveniles in Minnesota for serious crimes, violent crimes, and other offenses.
Abstract
Serious crime includes the offenses of murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny, auto theft, and arson. The number of males apprehended for serious crimes has increased from 13,340 in 1973 to 14,901 in 1992. The number of females apprehended for serious crimes has increased from 3,725 to 4,477 in the same period. The number of males apprehended for violent crimes increased from 684 in 1973 to 1,484 in 1992, while the number of females apprehended for violent crimes increased from 97 to 175 in the same period. The number of males apprehended for murder increased from 5 to 25 between 1973 and 1992. Apprehensions for sex offenses increased among males from 167 to 259 and for females from 9 to 17 between 1973 and 1992. Figures
