READINGS ON ADOLESCENT YOUTH CULTURE, SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS, PATTERNS, AND THEORIES ON MIDDLE-CLASS DELINQUENCY.
Abstract
ORGANIZED ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS ATHLETICS, ARE EXAMINED TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT TO WHICH THEY MIGHT CONTRIBUTE TO DELINQUENCY. THE READINGS SUGGEST THAT CERTAIN KINDS OF DELINQUENCY ARE UNEXPECTED RESULTS OF INSTITUTIONALIZED PATTERNS OF BEHAVIOR, AND THAT DELINQUENCY ARISES AMONG THE STABLE, CHERISHED VALUES, ATTITUDES AND ACTIVITIES OF THE MIDDLE-CLASS.
