THIS TEXT DESCRIBES AND EVALUATES A YUGOSLAV EXPERIMENT FOR THE REHABILITATION OF DISTURBED YOUTH IN AN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION WHICH UTILIZED THE METHODS OF PERMISSIVENESS, COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE FOR INMATES.
Abstract
THE FOUR-YEAR EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED IN AN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION OF THE PARTIALLY OPEN TYPE WITH A RELATIVELY SMALL CAPACITY (40-50 INMATES). THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES NOT ONLY THE EFFECT OF THE EXPERIMENT ON INMATES, BUT THE QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE DEMANDED OF THE STAFF. THE RESULTS CONFIRMED THE HYPOTHESIS THAT THE PERMISSIVE EDUCATIONAL METHODS OF THE STAFF DID NOT REPRESENT A GREATER THREAT TO SOCIETY THAN TRADITIONAL REPRESSIVE METHODS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
