Abstract
Essay topics range from social and psychological conditions that influence criminal behavior to government institutions responsible for public safety and the criminal justice system. Essays also address cultural, moral, and spiritual resources that promote constructive change in human behavior. Essays are organized according to five parts: (1) root conditions contributing to crime--violent crime, family breakdown, and crime and poverty; (2) police--steps public officials can take to support local police and public order responsibilities of police; (3) juvenile crime--school discipline and violent juvenile crime; (4) criminal justice system; and (5) sentencing and corrections.
