Abstract
Following a history of the department and the presentation of an organizational chart, patrol area boundaries, and the budget, the report focuses on the organization and activities of the department's executive offices, divisions, and field operations. The department has detective, administrative, court services, custody, and technical services divisions, and three field operations regions. The Detective Division is concerned with commercial crimes, juvenile investigations, special investigations, vice, homicide, and narcotics. The Court Services Division deals primarily with facility security planning, while the Custody Division focuses on jail population reduction, jail construction, and inmate diversion. The Technical Services Division is responsible for management information services, communications, data systems, records and identification, and scientific services. Detailed statistical data on department operations for 1991 are provided. Tables, figures, and photographs
