A community and civil rights activist continues discussing major religious organizations' grant programs by identifying the focus, application process, grant size, and duration of funding for each major denominational organization.
Abstract
Churches discussed are the Lutheran Church of America, the Roman Catholic Church, and the Presbyterian and Episcopalian organizations. Funding program characteristics are highlighted in terms of the hierarchical direction appeals for funding take, the evaluations made before grants are given, the types of programs favored, and the extent of church involvement in program administration. The World Council of Churches is mentioned as a possible source of funding for programs with national rather than local implications. For discussion of the major denominations' funding policies and history, see NCJ 83294.
