Intended to supplement the California Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Plan, this manual presents the procedures to be used by California law enforcement personnel, medical examiners, and emergency personnel in gathering and identifying human tissue and persons who have died as a result of major disasters resulting from natural or human causes.
Abstract
The text also describes the organization and functions of the statewide coroner, lists the procedures for notifying coroners and the procedures for dispatching and using coroners, and discusses the assistance available to law enforcement personnel during major disasters. It also describes the assistance available to law enforcement agencies from the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the California State Coroner's Association, other State agencies, and the Federal government. The text notes that the Law Enforcement Division of the Governor's Office of Emergency Services is the coordinating organization for the activities of all State agencies in these situations. Appended map and description of the tasks, authority, responsibility, and standard operating procedures of other agencies.
