This webpage sponsored by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) provides state-by-state access to training and technical assistance sites for the Law Enforcement-Based Victim Services and Technical Assistance Program (LEV Program).
The LEV Program is sponsored by the U.S. Justice Department’s Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), with the goal of establishing or improving victim-services programs in criminal justice agencies and connecting law enforcement-based victim services with community-based services to address the needs and rights of all crime victims. As the technical assistance provider for LEV sites, IACP personnel provide regular and targeted training and technical assistance to LEV sites. OVC funded 16 LEV sites in FY 2018, 35 LEV sites in FY 2019, and 22 LEV sites in FY 2020. This webpage provides online access to the current list of LEV sites in each state. In addition, the webpage provides online access to information on LEV webinars and resources, information on receiving LEV training and technical assistance, the Victim Services Mapping Project, LEV partners, and descriptions of LEV related projects. Issues addressed in these projects are the police response to violence against women, trauma-informed sexual assault investigation training, identifying and preventing gender bias in law enforcement, improving laws enforcement’s response to victims, law enforcement’s role in victim compensation, and a training program for improving rural law enforcement’s response to violence against women.
