A SUMMARY OF THE DISCUSSIONS AND REPORTS PRESENTED AT THE APRIL 1976 MEETING OF THE ADVISORY COUNCIL, AT WHICH SUCH TOPICS AS SURVEILLANCE, POLYGRAPHS, AND THE MISSION OF THE PRIVATE SECURITY ADVISORY COUNCIL WERE DISCUSSED.
Abstract
THE PRIVATE SECURITY ADVISORY COUNCIL IS ADVISORY TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE ADMINISTRATION AND HAS AMONG ITS DUTIES THOSE OF ADVISING LEAA ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF EFFECTIVE PROGRAMS AND POLICIES RELATING TO PRIVATE PROTECTION SERVICES AND IMPROVING COOPERATION BETWEEN PUBLIC LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND PRIVATE SECURITY SERVICES. THIS DOCUMENT DETAILS THE RESULTS OF A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL, AND CONTAINS THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE COUNCIL ON PRIVATE SECURITY MATTERS. AMONG THE SUBJECTS DISCUSSED WERE SERIALIZATION OF HIGH VALUE GOODS, USE OF POLYGRAPHS, THE LEAA REGULATIONS ON CRIMINAL HISTORY RECORDS, AND THE PRIVATE SECURITY TASK FORCE. COMMITTEE REPORTS ARE INCLUDED FROM THE COMMITTEES ON LAW ENFORCEMENT/PRIVATE SECURITY RELATIONS, ALARMS, PREVENTION OF TERRORISTIC CRIMES, AND ENVIRONMENTAL SECURITY. THE ADVISORY COUNCIL GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR 1976 ARE APPENDED.
