This document presents a comprehensive historical development and current issues overview of drug trafficking in Latin America, including its international as well as domestic impact on the Mexican population, from a human rights point of view.
Abstract
The historical roots are traced back to the drug trade between China and Europe. Other concepts explored include the criminal economy of drug trafficking; the drug culture and society; drug effects, symptoms, and causes; drug supply and demand; and drug prevention and rehabilitation. Drug money laundering and drug violence are also considered.
