This program explains what is involved in serving on a jury.
Abstract
The selection and types of juries are described, as is the preliminary examination of prospective jurors (voir dire). A section on the duties of jurors and on trial procedures explains opening statements, cross examinations, the presentation of evidence, and summations. Redirect examinations and the purposes of the judge's instructions are also covered. Finally, the jurors' activities during deliberation are considered. In addition to the cassette recording and slides, the program includes information on equipment needed, tips on projector operation, a moderator's discussion guide, and a typed script. The presentation is suitable for a general audience.
