POLICE BY FAILING TO ACCEPT SOCIAL CHANGE HAVE BECOME INSENSITIVE AND ARE NO LONGER A PROGRESSIVE SOCIAL FORCE.
Abstract
POLICE ARE PICTURED AS ONLY ONE OF THE ANTAGONISTIC GROUPS IN A POLARIZED COMMUNITY. THE HOSTILITY WHICH THEY GENERATE THREATENS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, BECAUSE IT IS TRANSFERRED TO OTHER AGENCIES. IN THE HOPE OF IMPROVING COMMUNITY RELATIONS, HIGHER POLICE EDUCATION AND RECRUITMENT STANDARDS ARE SUGGESTED ALONG WITH GREATER INVOLVEMENT BY POLICE IN THE SOCIAL DYNAMICS OF THE COMMUNITY.
