Abstract
The manual discusses the tasks, procedures, and decisionmaking criteria associated with various stages of case processing. Topics covered include temporary-detention and custody decisions, how to obtain jurisdiction in cases of children in need of services, written intake information and preliminary inquiry, informal adjustment, the institution of formal proceedings, initial hearing on petition, permanency planning, and preadjudicative hearings. Other topics addressed are the order on factfinding hearing for a CHINS petition, the predispositional report, the dispositional hearing, court orders to parents, appeal, and modification. Miscellaneous forms provided are the petition to expunge records and the order granting petition to expunge.
