Prepared for a 1994 American Bar Association conference, this volume describes several dozen innovative, effective, and replicable programs established by courts, attorneys, non- attorneys, and public and private organizations throughout the United States to address various problems in the justice system.
Abstract
The programs are grouped under five broad categories: (1) access to justice, (2) criminal justice, (3) children and families, (4) serving the public, and (5) citizen involvement in justice system improvements. Each program profile outlines the goals and basic operations of the program and the name and address of a contact person. Individual programs focus on specialized legal assistance, alternative dispute resolution, crime prevention, alternative sentencing, victim services, domestic violence, divorce, telephone hotlines, public outreach and education, citizen advisory committees, and other areas.
