Initially intended for use by victims of domestic violence in Ohio, particularly those living in a shelter, this booklet guides the user through an assessment of her/his emotional and physical health, followed by recommended exercises for achieving and maintaining mental and physical health.
Abstract
The booklet first guides the user through a personal assessment of her/his physical and mental health, with attention to "self-care basics." Users are then guided through the development of a personal plan for self-care. Instruction is provided in coping strategies for domestic-violence victims, particularly those living in a shelter. Exercises in coping strategies address "feeling safe;" "coping with communal living;" "coping with triggers" (circumstances that stimulate adverse feelings); "relaxing;" "asking for help;" "handling my emotions;" "sleeping;" and "getting active."
