THIS SLIDE SHOW POSES QUESTIONS ON THE MORALITY OF PROSTITUTION, AND WHETHER IT SHOULD BE DECRIMINALIZED.
Abstract
BY MOST ESTIMATES, ANYWHERE FROM 250,000 TO 500,000 PEOPLE EARN THEIR LIVING FROM PROSTITUTION EACH YEAR. THERE ARE CLOSE TO 100,000 ARRESTS FOR PROSTITUTION ANNUALLY, BUT THERE IS AS MUCH DIFFERENCE OF OPINION ABOUT THIS SUBJECT AS EVER. THE SHOW CONTAINS INTERVIEWS WITH PROSTITUTES, THEIR CLIENTS, PSYCHIATRIC PERSONNEL, AND OTHERS. THE DEBATE IS PRESENTED OVER WHETHER PROSTITUTION REFLECTS A PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDER OR AN EASY FINANCIAL SOURCE. THE GROWTH OF MIDDLE-CLASS PROSTITUTION IS DEPICTED, AS WELL AS THE USE OF PROSTITUTION IN BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS. DECRIMINALIZATION VERSUS LEGALIZATION IS ARGUED, AS WELL AS WHO SHOULD BE PUNISHED IF IT REMAINS A CRIME....BDS
