An inventory of Canadian juvenile and adult court information systems is presented in this report.
Abstract
The inventory is intended to aid those jurisdictions which are contemplating computerized applications in finding out where similar work already has been done and sources to contact for detailed information. An introductory table shows the major statistics for each jurisdiction covered in the inventory. Manual and computerized systems in each jurisdiction are briefly summarized under the following headings: system name, location, level of courts served, main area served, number of personnel served, annual caseload, unit of count, retention cycle, other court links, level of technology, needed changes, planned changes, security features, and user impressions. In each case, 57 court functions are listed, and their information system status is indicated as 'planned,' 'under development,' or 'operational.' The addresses and telephone numbers of agency contact persons are provided. Concluding summary tables present information on functions and operational status for the entire court system and on the design characteristics of each system by jurisdiction.
