The instructor's guide for inservice training of criminal justice planning personnel in the eight-State southeastern region is presented.
Abstract
The course consists of eight modules, each with a summary, lesson objectives, required and recommended reading lists, questions for class discussion and review, teaching suggestions, and group or individual exercises. The modules discuss steps and problems of the planning process, planning strategy alternatives, a systems approach to analyzing the existing situation, and forecasting as a planning tool (with instructions for an optional session on least square regression). Topics also covered are problem identification and analysis, methods for determining planning goals, concepts used in designing programs and projects, the relationship of implementation to other aspects of the planning process, and the role of evaluation in planning and policymaking.
