Abstract
THE STUDY GUIDE PROVIDES A CAREFUL REVIEW OF EACH CHAPTER OF THE INTRODUCTION TO THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM TEXTBOOK TO HELP STUDENTS EVALUATE THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF THE MATERIAL, MASTER CONCEPTS, AND REVIEW THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROCESS. IT INCLUDES THE SIX MAJOR SECTIONS OF KEY CONCEPTS, KEY CASES OF INDIVIDUALS, FILL-IN REVIEW, SELF TEST, ESSAY QUESTIONS, AND AN ANSWER SECTION. THE KEY CONCEPTS AND CASES SECTIONS PROVIDE A PREVIEW OF THE MOST IMPORTANT POINTS OF EACH CHAPTER. THE FILL-IN REVIEW SECTION IS DESIGNED TO GIVE IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK AS TO KNOWLEDGE OBTAINED FROM THE TEXT; ACCURACY MAY BE EVALUATED BY CHECKING RESPONSES WITH THE ANSWER SECTION. THE SELF-TEST SECTION PROVIDES A WIDE VARIETY OF OBJECTIVE TEST QUESTIONS INCLUDING TRUE-FALSE, MULTIPLE CHOICE, AND MATCHING. EACH CHAPTER CONCLUDES WITH A LIST OF SUGGESTED ESSAY QUESTIONS. CONTENTS OF THE STUDY GUIDE DIRECTLY REFLECT THE TEXT AND INCLUDE SUCH SUBJECTS AS THE ROLE OF THE COURTS, CLASSIFICATION OF LAWS, ELEMENTS OF A CRIME, OVERVIEW OF THE CRIMINAL PROCESS, CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION, THE POLICE, ADJUDICATION, SENTENCING AND CORRECTIONS, AND LEGAL AND JUDICIAL PROFESSIONALS. SEE NCJRS 58550 AND 58699 FOR THE TEXTBOOK AND INSTRUCTOR'S MANUAL, RESPECTIVELY. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED). (LWM)
