Abstract
This material was developed by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) Subcommittee on Biometrics and Identity Management to provide updated information to the Federal Government, Congress, the public, and the press regarding the use of biometrics. This document is divided into three major areas: 1) Introduction; 2) Technologies; and 3) Cross-Cutting Topics. The Introduction includes four sections: Biometrics Glossary, Biometrics FAQs; Biometrics Overview; and Biometrics History. The Technologies section covers palm print recognition, fingerprint recognition, hand geometry, dynamic signature, vascular pattern recognition, iris recognition, face recognition, and speaker recognition. The Cross-Cutting Topics section includes information on Biometrics Standards and Biometrics Testing and Statistics.
