Abstract
THE CONSTITUTION AND GENERAL REGULATIONS WERE ADOPTED IN 1956. CERTAIN ARTICLES AND REGULATIONS WERE MODIFIED IN 1962, 1964, AND 1967. INTERPOL, SEATED IN PARIS, AIMS TO ENSURE AND PROMOTE THE WIDEST POSSIBLE MUTUAL ASSISTANCE BETWEEN ALL CRIMINAL POLICE AUTHORITIES AND TO ESTABLISH AND DEVELOP ALL INSTITUTIONS LIKELY TO CONTRIBUTE EFFECTIVELY TO THE PREVENTION AND SUPPRESSION OF ORDINARY LAW CRIMES. THE ORGANIZATION IS PROHIBITED FROM UNDERTAKING POLITICAL, MILITARY, RELIGIOUS, OR RACIAL ACTIVITIES. OTHER CONSTITUTIONAL PROVISIONS CONCERN STRUCTURE AND ORGANIZATION; THE APPLICATION, MODIFICATION, AND INTERPRETATION OF THE CONSTITUTION; AND TEMPORARY MEASURES. THE GENERAL REGULATIONS CONCERN THE CONVENING OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, AGENDA, EXTRAORDINARY SESSIONS, DELEGATIONS AND VOTING, CONDUCT OF BUSINESS, THE SECRETARIAT, COMMITTEES, THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE, THE GENERAL SECRETARIAT, THE ADVISORS, BUDGET AND FINANCE, LANGUAGES, AND PROCEDURES FOR MODIFYING THE GENERAL REGULATIONS.
