This document presents an action plan developed by the Departments of Justice, State, and the Treasury in cooperation with other Federal agencies and at the direction of the President to provide a coordinated effort to address international crime.
Abstract
The strategy sets out eight broad goals. These include extending the first line of defense beyond the United States borders, protecting borders by addressing smuggling and smuggling-related crimes, denying a safe haven to international criminals, and countering international financial crime. Additional goals include preventing criminal exploitation of international trade, responding to emerging international crime threats such as new activities of international organized crime groups, promoting international cooperation, and enhancing executive-branch policy and operational coordination mechanisms. The report also provides background information on current and emerging international crime, objectives for each of the goals, and details on action steps. Case examples, tables, figures, photographs, and appended list of acronyms and summaries of related national strategies
