This task force report summarizes interviews with 10 criminal justice agencies in the Orlando, Fl., metropolitan area regarding their information management needs and current computer systems; it recommends measures to reduce redundancies in information and labor, to consolidate services, and to improve system responsiveness.
Abstract
The three-member Information Management Task Force conducted interviews during 1983 with the following individuals or agencies: the chief judge, public defender, and State attorney of the Ninth Judicial Circuit; the sheriffs' departments in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola Counties; and the police departments of Kissimmee, Maitland, Orlando, and Winter Park. The task force recommends creating a group of data processing and information managers from all central Florida law enforcement and justice aqencies to share knowledge, foster cooperation, facilitate problemsolving, and work with the Greater Orlando Crime Prevention Association to secure private sector involvement. It also suggests soliciting private enterprise expertise to assist those agencies now investigating computer-based information systems or currently installing systems. The interview questionnaire and the task force's work plan are appended.
