Abstract
An introduction outlines the basic aspects of criminal law, including its sources and forms, the constitutional background of criminal justice, criminal laws, and the processing of a hypothetical case. Additional chapters detail the definitions and procedures involved in arrests, searches and seizures, and interrogations. The exclusionary rule, the privilege against self-incrimination, the procedures for identifying suspects, entrapment, and the civil liability of the police under State and Federal law are also detailed. Each chapter includes explanatory text, briefs of appellate court decisions, and references to statutes. A 1985 supplementary text, a glossary, table of cases, index, and texts of Indiana criminal laws.
